Being asked to join in the hymn challenge made me look inwards. I was asked what my favorite hymn was and I became blank.
At this point, I was ready to back out but then I knew I had to reflect.
Upon reflection, I knew just what hymn was best for me.
In, floated the lyrics of the song, closely accompanying it was the scenario that brought me so much peace and confidence that Heaven was mine to gain.
When Peace, like a river, attendenth my way,
When sorrows like seas billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to know,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Standing up to join the crowd of worshippers sing this hymn as led by the senior pastor, the lyrics of the song which I had sung several times over became clear to me and struck me so hard that like the song writer I could boldly declare,
But, Lord, ’tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh Trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope! blessed rest of my soul!
In this hymn, I’ve found peace and know of a surety that it is well with my soul.
