Hymn Challenge 2019
There are times we get low, this makes us human and makes God, God. I know this should be about inspirational hymns but this is as inspirational to me as every other hymns.
Have you ever prayed as a kid and you are having the answers as an adult? This is my experience rather my testimony.
As a kid then, keeping things to myself was difficult. I grew up learning to talk to God instead of people. He got me when I needed Him most. I know people watch with wonder how I keep my head up high.
God made me some promises then that I hooked up with.
When you pour it all out to him with a heart of honesty and sincerity, he has listening ears and a heart that feels all of our pains.
Sweet hour of prayer is a hymn which I’ve heard and sung several times but never read any meaning to it.
One day I heard someone sing it, I flipped my hymn book and I sung it over and over and over again until I got every meaning of the words. IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE!
A great one, if you ask me. It has been my favourite hymn over six months now and still remains.
I’ll cast on him my every care, till I view my home and take my flight.
Here’s the hymn
SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER
1. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known;
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer.
2. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless;
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer.
3. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height,
I view my home, and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise
To seize the everlasting prize;
And shout, while passing through the air,
Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer.
